Upgrade Your Gearing Recent technology (within the last 10 years) has allowed us to give our customers the full benefit of better gearing. Gear quality is normally increased on older gearboxes through the use of CNC Form grinding. Form grinding improves gear contact by allowing for tooth form modification.
M.E.R machining capabilities support large components with horizontal turning capabilities up to 260′ in length and 62″ swing, and our large Scheiss VBM has the ability to turn 40′ diameter. For larger volume and smaller turning requirements, our Mori Seiki CNC lathe is able to efficiently handle these production needs.

Repair of Bridge Drive Gear Case for the Steel Industry Our ability to handle large components, along with our expert gear box knowledge, brought this client from the steel industry to our facility. This repair project required us to repair and rebuild the bridge drive gear case on a crane that moves steel slabs. To make the repairs we applied MIG welding to repair cracks, and buildup bores. We then used our CNC machining capabilities to re-machine the bores to print specifications, machine the ring seal for output shaft, and ream the holes. We then assembled the gear case with all new hardware, re-plumbed with all new plumbing and lube lines, installed bearing seals, pressed gears on shaft, installed idler wheel assembly, and aligned and installed seal ring. This 8.5′ high x 9′ long x 4′ wide gear case was sandblasted before we applied a coating Signal Yellow Paint upon inspect and test runs we delivered this repair to the customers facility near Tulsa OK

Our engineers also specialize in drop-in replacements and can recreate an existing gear drive for a precise match, or we can design a new gear drive to fit customer specifications.
